We classify living things into groups called kingdoms.
There are five different kingdoms:
- The Monera Kingdom
- The Protoctista Kingdom
- The Fungi Kingdom
- The Plant kingdom
- The Animal Kingdom : Vertebrates and Invertebrates
Invertebrates
are animals that don´t have a backbone

animals are classified into six groups.
PORIFERA

Ex: Sponges

MOLLUSCS

BODY: soft body and
almost with a hard shell
Ex: Mussels, snails,
oysters and octopuses

CNIDARIANS

BODY: soft body and
some have tentacles
Ex: Jellyfish

ARTHROPODS
|
BODY: have an
exoskeleton
Ex: Insects, spiders
and crustaceans

ANNELIDS
|
BODY: have a long,
soft body divided into rings
Ex: Segmented
worms and leeches

ECHINODERMS
|
BODY: some have
bodies covered with spines and some have tentacles
Ex: starfish and
sea urchins

What body coverings do invertebrates have?
We can find
three different body coverings in invertebrates:
hard shell, exoskeleton and
soft body.
